I laid in bed on the final night of the Zion trip with one thought in my mind:

I want to go apply what I learned and try again.

24 hours prior, I had endured beautiful failure in my goal to get 9 Tribal athletes across the finish line of Zion 100.

I made it 70 miles myself. And I was satisfied with that.

But it wasn’t 100.

Two more thoughts floated through my mind:

  1. You should go figure out how to run 100 miles before trying again with the Team

  2. You should go run a race that’s just for you, without any coaching responsibilities

I browsed Ultrasignup.com and found an option right away.

Great Divide 100. It was in 6 weeks and I only 2 hours from my house. I was in.

On June 2nd (after 37 hours and 40 mins of running) I crossed the finish line of Great Divide 100.

I recorded a full podcast sharing my race and finish story.

You can listen to that HERE.
