What if just one month could change what you believed you were capable of?
Not just as an athlete.
But as a parent. A builder. A leader.
That’s what happened in April—with a training challenge and a pen in hand.
And in just a moment, you’ll have the chance to join us for the next one.
But first—let me show you what just went down in April’s Ride. Write. Build. Challenge.
It wasn’t about PRs or medals.
It was about becoming the kind of person who answers the call.
April Ride. Write. Build. Challenge
With 20+ Tribal athletes prepping for Chattanooga 70.3 in May — and Run. Write. Build. taking off within the team — I launched a challenge designed to do 2 things:
Build training momentum through peak of the Chatt build
Create space for growth through written reflection
Here’s how it worked:
Athletes picked a bike mileage goal for April:
300 miles (baseline)
400 miles (primary)
500 miles (stretch)
The scoring system rewarded both riding and reflection:
+5 points for hitting 5 hours of ride time in a week
+1 point for back-to-back riding days (max 2 per week)
Athlete unlock a weekly writing prompt when they hit 3 hours in the week
+5 points for sharing their written reflection in Team Chat
The results? More than just physical…
New PRs unlocked:
“I really wanted to challenge what I thought were my limits of ride distance and time, and ended up with my biggest weeks and month of riding ever.”
Writing rediscovered:
“I re-discovered the joy I get from writing/reflecting/journaling. I have restarted writing consistently after not doing it for years.”
Breakthroughts on days when motivation was low:
“I absolutely 100% did not want to push to 500 miles on the last day. But the push from the team got me there. These team challenges are 💥”
Clarity and leadership at home:
"When I show up daily with clear intentions and smart momentum, I build a life that feels like I’m using my full potential to accomplish my personal and family goals."
And Jason summed it up best:
“I can accomplish so much more than I thought by taking advantage of small windows, and just getting started.
This has translated to simple things, like chores around the house. ‘I can’t do that, it will take too long before I need to leave’—and then that thing only takes half the time I thought. Then I do something else quick. Before I knew it, I’ve stacked two chores together when I wasn’t going to do either.
Lowering the bar and just getting started is always more productive than finding the perfect time to accomplish something.”
Now it’s your turn…
We’re carrying that same momentum into May—with a new rhythm and deeper reflection.
Introducing: Write About Running Wednesdays
Inspired by Haruki Murakami’s What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, this challenge blends movement, presence, and introspection.
Each Wednesday, you’ll:
🏃 Run for 45 minutes
📖 Read 15 minutes from Murakami's book
✍️ Write for 15 minutes using a guided prompt
No medals. No prizes.
Just clear intentions and smart momentum.

Onward.

P.S. You don’t need to be perfect this month—just show up four times. That’s it.
But the rhythm we build together will ripple far beyond Wednesdays.
