One of my athletes built and sold a company for $100M dollars.

But you know what he said was more rewarding?

Crossing the finish line at Ironman.

(Seriously. You can listen to his story HERE)

That might sound crazy - until you’ve hit the red carpet yourself.

Last weekend, that same athlete had another “business meets endurance breakthrough” at Chattanooga 70.3.

He set a huge PR.

But when we talked after the race, what stuck with him wasn’t the time.

It was the feeling.

He spent the entire race riding a razor’s edge:

  • success in the present

  • fear of the future

He felt strong. His pacing was steady. His fueling was working.

But in the back of his mind, there was a whisper of doubt:

"When is this going to fall apart?"

He kept waiting for the wheels to come off.

But they never did.

And he crossed the finish line with a personal best - and a monster smile.

When we debriefed after the race, something clicked:

That feeling of it all blowing up?

It’s the same one that shows up in business.

Things are going well, but the voice creeps in:

Can we really maintain this growth rate?

What happens if we lose our biggest client?

What if the whole business dies tomorrow?

Those concerns may be real. But they’re not always true.

And no matter how well your business is doing - if your mindset is stuck in a place of fear and doubt, you’ll never enjoy the success you’re achieving.

That’s why this race was so important for Josh:

It gave him proof.

Proof that he can:

  • hold the pace

  • keep moving forward

Proof that he is more capable than he gives himself credit for.

That’s why we train. That’s why we race.

To give the mind and body real, physical evidence that we’re built for the unknown.

We can rise to meet it. And that we can keep going.

Ok… now it’s your turn.
