This is the part no one talks about.

But it’s everything.

Not the gear. Not the taper.

It’s not about race-day spreadsheets or transition times.

It’s the night before the race.

Sharing a meal together. Food passed hand to hand. Kids on laps.

Teammates swapping stories.

People showing up as they are — some calm, some nervous, some quietly holding back emotion.

Tribal Team Dinner

Team Dinner Spread

Everyone at our Tribal Team Dinner came to Chattanooga chasing something meaningful in their own way.

  • Some were first-timers.

  • Some were comeback stories.

  • Some just wanted to prove to themselves they could show up to a team event.

Because for half our group, it was their first-ever team race.

And let’s be honest — that is intimidating.

You’re joining a crew you’ve never met in person.

You’re wondering if you belong.

If you’re fit enough. Brave enough. Ready enough.

But here’s what happens when you walk into a Tribal dinner:

  • You’re greeted by name

  • You’re welcomed with a hug

  • You’re surrounded by people who get it

Because we’re all building our lives in a similar way.

We don’t just train hard. We create connection. We build relationships.

That dinner was the real start line.

The place where strangers became teammates. Where nerves softened into smiles. Where everyone could take a breath and say:

“Okay. I’m not doing this alone.”

This is how we make a 70.3 weekend unforgettable — together.

And if you’ve ever wanted to be part of something like that…

To feel what it’s like to be surrounded by the right people at exactly the right moment…

That’s what tomorrow’s email is about.

But today, I’ll leave you with this:

The connection before the race is what gives the race meaning.

More tomorrow,

— Ryan
